Teacher Education
You care about your students. You want your teaching—and your teacher trainings—to reflect your values. But most of us weren’t trained to navigate the complexity of varied bodies, varied identities, and real harm in yoga spaces.
That’s where I come in.
I help yoga teachers and training programs deepen their practice through equity-rooted education, mentorship, and curriculum development. Together, we move beyond performative inclusion and into embodied, liberatory teaching—grounded in accessible movement, critical reflection, and real-world application.
Whether you’re just starting to rethink your sequencing or leading a 200-hour program, I bring a blend of sociological expertise, practical tools, and lived experience that makes hard conversations easier—and meaningful change more possible.
Let’s build something better, together.

Yoga Teacher Mentorship
"Shannon worked with me to build a very specific mentorship plan that addressed my questions, desires, and budget, with extra time to muse about yoga cueing, sociology, and our experiences as teachers and practitioners.
10/10 would recommend to any teacher feeling ill-equipped in the accessibility space."

LBGTQIA+ & Disability Equity in Yoga
"The Equity in Yoga session I attended with Shannon was an excellent way to prepare to host and sequence a class, or communicate just generally, with awareness and sensitivity to the very different needs of each individual who may walk into a class.
The resources shared have been very helpful and I will continue to refer to them throughout my teaching and other careers. Thank you for helping me to make my classes and interactions with others more welcoming and kind!"

Creating an Ethical Business
"Given the time we had, I thought it was impressive how much we were able to cover. So much I didn't know. Glad we had this session. I've already carved out time this week to sit down with the worksheets, reflect, and be intentional about how I want to shape the way that I offer an experience.
I definitely foresee learning more deeply about who I am as a person, and I think this will make me a better teacher. Thanks for all of the thought you put into this. The passion is felt!"
Personalized Mentorship for Teachers Who Want to Do Things Differently
Not every teacher training prepares you to teach in the margins. And let’s be real—most weren’t designed to. If you’re trying to create a teaching practice that reflects your values, includes your full self, and makes space for your students’ whole humanity, you might need a different kind of support.
That’s where this mentorship comes in.
I work with yoga teachers who are ready to unlearn performative standards and build something more honest. Together, we’ll explore how to teach from your politics, hold inclusive space, and find real sustainability in your teaching (without burning out or selling out).
Here’s How It Works:
-
Free Consultation: A no-pressure 20-minute call to see what you need and how I can help.
-
Customized Sessions: We co-create a plan around your goals—whether that’s sequencing, class culture, inclusive cueing, ethics, business structure, or all of the above.
-
Yoga Alliance CEUs: Yep, it can count. Because real learning deserves recognition.
Topics We Can Dive Into
-
Accessible Sequencing & Mixed-Level Classes: Designing classes that actually meet students where they’re at—no “one-size-fits-all” yoga here.
-
Creating Queer and Fat-Affirming Spaces: Learn how to build spaces where everyone feels valued, seen, and supported, especially those often left out of traditional wellness spaces.
-
Holding Space for Clients: This is more than teaching—it’s about creating a space where students feel safe to show up as they are, physically and emotionally.
-
Social Media & Marketing, Your Way: Skip the “influencer” vibe. Let’s find ways to connect with your community authentically so people know exactly what you stand for.
-
Finding Your Voice as a Teacher: Discover what makes you unique and bring that authenticity into your classes.
-
Back-Office Essentials: From scheduling to payments to business structure, we’ll tackle the practical stuff to keep your practice running smoothly.
-
Building an Ethical Business: Align your teaching with your values, create boundaries, and make a practice that reflects who you are and what matters to you.
Pricing
I believe in making this mentorship accessible, especially to those who are impacted by systemic oppression. That’s why I offer a range of rates, from $45 to $125 per session, based on your financial situation. We’ll work together to find a rate that feels fair and feasible.
This mentorship is about more than teaching—it’s about becoming the kind of teacher who creates real change in the lives of your students and in the yoga community. If you’re ready to build a practice that feels like home for both you and the people you serve, let’s do this together.

Guest Teaching for YTTs and CE Workshops
Build trainings that don’t just include equity—center it.
Let’s be honest: most yoga teacher trainings weren’t designed with fat, disabled, queer, or neurodivergent students in mind. They were built on narrow assumptions about who yoga is for and what it should look like. I help programs rethink that foundation.
As a sociologist, fat yoga teacher, and longtime educator, I offer guest teaching and curriculum design that moves beyond buzzwords. My work brings big-picture context (think: power, privilege, systemic harm) into real-world teaching tools your students can use right away.
These sessions are interactive, reflective, and grounded in practice. We talk theory, yes—but we also talk sequencing, cueing, language, ethics, and how to teach in ways that align with students' values and their communities’ needs.
Topics I regularly teach include:
-
Making yoga accessible for fat, disabled, and neurodivergent folks
-
Gender-affirming language and creating queer-affirming spaces
-
Power, harm, and accountability in teacher-student dynamics
-
Ethical, sustainable business practices that don’t require burnout
I offer modules ranging from 3–16 hours, tailored to your curriculum and your cohort. I’ve worked with studios and schools across North America to deepen their trainings, support their faculty, and create space for real, lasting learning.

"This session was informative and thoughtful as well as thought-provoking. It brought to light many of the biases that are held related to yoga. This awareness is so important in the YTT journey. Thank you Shannon."
